DESCRIPTION:Join us between May 1 to May 8\, in taking at least 22\,000 steps\, doing a little each day. Walk or run your neighborhood\, favorite park\, or visit a gym. Take your steps with friends and family or on your own.  Let’s increase our activity and reduce avoidable health issues one step at a time.  \nDonations of $22 or more are being accepted and equally given to the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association. These organizations\, in partnership with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority\, Inc. are doing critical work to combat diseases that plague our community. We want to help reduce the impact and supporting these great organizations will help.  \nFeel free to share your progress and time being active via social media. Coffee in Common is a monthly series hosted by the St. Petersburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority\, the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American History Museum\, and the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area. Our goal is to bring white women and women of color together in a safe\, honest space to discuss race and politics. This series seeks to explore the intersection of politics and race by educating audiences about history\, lived experience\, and facilitating important\, and often uncomfortable\, discussion about race. \nFollowing the presentation\, facilitators will guide discussion on the topic\, its relevance in today’s world\, and honest conversations about the deeply-rooted effects of institutional and systemic racism in our community.
